VI INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR OF MARTIAL ARTS AND INTERVENTION TECHNIQUES AT COSSW IN KALISZ
V International Seminar of Martial Arts and Intervention Techniques took place on 15.06-17.06.2007 at the Central Training Centre of Prison Service in Kalisz. The organizers of the Seminar were:

The aim of the Seminar was:
- to learn new techniques in hand fights and intervention techniques
- exchange experience of uniform service in solving extreme situations
- to raise the level of an individual training of prison service instructors
- to integrate prison service
The official opening of the Seminar was made by the commandant of the Central Training Centre of Prison Service /COSSW/, colonel, Master of Arts Adam Kaczmarek accompanied by the vice president of Kalisz town, Krzysztof Konopka.
The number of participants in the Seminar was 170 including 120 prison officers. Apart from the prison service officers, the other people were guests from Poland and foreign countries, and representatives of other uniform service.
Foreign delegations included representatives of uniform service from the following countries: Italy, France, Czech Republic, Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Lithuania, Israel, Russia, Mongolia and Hungary.
The biggest delegations were from France /7 people altogether with the major representative Mr. Philippe Floch/ and from Italy /4 people altogether with the major representative Paolo Colla/.
The other delegations consisted of 2-3 people representing Police and Prison Service of a given country.
The Central Management of Polish Prison Service was represented by the Vice Director of Defense Department Captain Jacek Kikta and Lieutenant-Colonel Leszek Michalski.
As far as Polish delegations are concerned, there were representatives from Police, Army, Green Police and security services
Trainings were performed by:
Colonel, dr Krzysztof Kondratowicz /Soke 11 Dan Jiu-jitsu/
International instructor of hand fights. One of the greatest authority in Poland in hand fights and intervention techniques. The author of many well known publications about self-defense. A widely recognized master and a trainer of many martial arts instructors. The honorary member of many sport organizations in Poland and abroad. Awarded with many national medals. The consultant and the teacher of uniform formations in Poland. He is a legend, supporter of physical culture in its all forms.
Mjr Paolo Colla /9 Dan Jiu-jitsu, Karate/
International instructor of hand fights. The president of International Karate Jiu-jitsu Association. The major of Italian police, a master and a teacher of many hand fights and intervention techniques instructors. The honorary member of m any martial and sport arts organizations in the world. The major instructor of uniform service in Italy.
Philippe Floch /7 Dan Krav Maga, Combat/
International instructor of hand fights. The major instructor of French police. He conducts classes with uniform service in France.
Mjr Istvan Kocsis /5 Dan Tai-jitsu/
One of the main police instructors in Hungary. He conducts classes with uniform service at techniques of hand fights, and intervention techniques. The author of some publications on tactics
and intervention technique.
Geza Szepvolgyi /7 dan Jiu-Jitsu/
Jiu-Jitsu President in Hungarz. Master of martial and sport arts.
Hungary and Europe trainer of uniform services.
Mjr Arkadiusz Kups /Combat 56/
The main trainer In the army and other uniform units. Well known from TV programme "Selekcja"

Instructor of Polish Centre Jiu-Jitsu Goshin Ryu, conducting trainings for uniform services in Poland.

A representative of Jeet Kund Do Academy. An international instructor of hand fight and intervention techniques.
mjr mgr Mirosław Ku¶wik 7 Dan /Modern Combat,Karate-do ,Jiu-jitsu,Tonfa System
Head of Intervention Techniques Department at COSSW In Kalisz. An international instructor of hand fights and intervention techniques. He conducts trainings for uniform units in Poland and Europe. A specialist in Jiu-jitsu, Combat, Karate-do and Judo techniques.
The Seminar was conducted in a form of workshops, held in three sport gyms at COSSW. The workshops started at 9.30 every day and finished at 18.30 including lunch breaks. Presented techniques raised a lot of interest in Polish instructors and foreign guests. The master demonstrations of the fight techniques and intervention techniques, together with great personality of the instructors, contributed to create a great atmosphere during the Seminar. Apart from the workshops, paintball and shooting competition were organized for foreign guests.
After the classification has been completed, the results in paintball were as follow:

During the Seminar multimedia presentation was held associated with modern chemical paralyzing means and non-penetration ammuniction used all over the world prodused by american company Combined Systems Inc.
Before the Seminar was finished, there was a barbecue for all the participants. Local and national media were also interested in the Seminar. On 17.06.2007 at 11.00 VI International Seminar of Martial Arts and Intervention Techniques was officially closed, by awarding all the participants with a certificate. Foreign delegations were additionally awarded by souvenirs and the COSSW Commandant awarded the competition winners with some medals and cups.
The Seminar was successful as it gave great possibility for exchange of experience in self-defense education. The assigned goals were met. All the participants evaluated this time positively and the contacts with the representatives of uniform service provided the possibility for exchange of experience in tactic and techniques used in extreme situations in other countries.
To summarize, all the participants of the V International Seminar of Martial Arts and Intervention Techniques expressed their satisfaction and willingness to meet next year.
